Places to visit & things to do

There are many pamphlets and books in the cottage please feel free to browse & add to them. North Wales has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Britain, ranging from the mountains, forests, lakes and streams of Snowdonia to cliffs and sandy beaches on the coast most of them less than an hour away from the cottage by car.  There are so many great places to go to and adventures to be had, here are a few ideas;

Glan-y-Rhyd cottage is a great base for a fishing, golf or adventure!

Portmerion

Portmerion is a must, it’s in a very interesting location and the architecture is of an Italianate village which has stunning views across the beach. Great place for walks and beaches.

Mountains

There are so many great mountains to climb

it is hard to recommend only one or two but our favourites are Tryfan, Siabod and of course Snowdon cannot be beaten on a clear day, however, start early to avoid the crowds!

The Conwy & Swallow Falls

The Conwy Falls are just up the road towards Pentrefoelas and the Swallow Falls are the other way just through Betws Y coed, both falls are spectacular and there is a friendly café on the site at the Conwy. At certain times of the year (particularly in autumn) the salmon can be seen leaping up the falls trying to make their way upstream to spawn!
